Go watch this video, showcasing the latest issue of Visionaire. It’s worth it, I’m telling you. If only for Tom Assman’s string and oonts-oonts-oonts arrangement of Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You”.
From wikipedia:
Visionaire is an art and fashion publication that has come out in limited, numbered editions three times a year since spring 1991. Each issue has a specific format and theme around which prominent artists, designers, photographers, and others guest edit the publication. The New Yorker called it a “gallery in print” and W called it “the couture version of a magazine.”
This year, the 2009 Visionaire holiday issue is presented as an intricate pop-up book. Says the Visionaire site: “Executed by renowned paper engineer Bruce Foster, the issue features moveable images, three-dimensional scenes, and surprise reveals. The pop-up folios are housed in a dark purple cloth-covered case with a magnetized closure and engraved numbered metal plaque.”
All for $250. While supplies last. And It’s pretty much bad-ass.
