This just popped up on my iTunes: a forgotten, audio-edition GMA for Anna, from way back on March 26, 2009. I wanted to write her a bite-size Tom Waits-style song in less than an hour, so that’s exactly what I did. I even used the Official Rules For Creating A Successful Tom Waits Song™. Those rules include (if you’re so inclined to play along):
- You must reference dogs (possibly feral and/or sleeping)
- You must reference wine (or lack thereof)
- You must reference pianos
- You must reference an example of heavy, noisy machinery
- You must reference confetti
