As another example of how bad-ass Anna is, she recently gifted me a June 1973 issue of Playboy because that’s the month and year I was born. The only other Playboy or anything like that I own is the Latoya Jackson one from 1989. No, I don’t know why. What if it’s worth something one day. What. What. I hate you guys.

Anyway, is it weird that I’ve totally glossed over the naked 1973 chicks and gone straight for the cool ads like this one? (Hint: No.)

This is the most generous and thoughtful birthday gift I’ve ever received.

It’s a fully customised, handmade bobblehead version of me, and (of course!) was a gift from the wonderful Danielle. She designed the clothes, including my glasses, red Chucks, my favourite blue hoodie, and a t-shirt the colour of my favourite Quicksilver one but with a logo saying “SCIENCE”.

She has about a dozen emails back and forth with the production company where she’s rejecting various clay models for “hair not pointy enough” and “glasses all wrong” and “doesn’t look sufficiently shouty”.

My wife-to-be, unable to breathe from laughing because a good friend point-blank said to me the story I was telling was as boring as crap. They were SO right, is the thing. It’s my favorite smack-down ever. (Still, Anna’s laugh is amazing SHUT UP.)
